Problem

This newly launched media company needed a content-rich website to support its mission of spotlighting accountants through peer-led articles, podcasts, videos, and industry commentary. With no existing platform, the challenge was to design and develop a large-scale media site from scratch that could manage a high volume of interconnected content types — all while remaining user-friendly for non-technical contributors.

Solution

I led the UX, design, and development, using WordPress and ACF to build a custom CMS tailored to the needs of their editorial and production team. The architecture included nested CMS structures to link authors, series, blogs, podcasts, and YouTube content. I also integrated YouTube’s API to pull in video metadata automatically, ensuring content stayed fresh without manual input. The admin experience was clean, structured, and built specifically for internal usability.

Process

The project spanned three months, with a clear line of communication between myself and the business. All design revisions were finalised early, allowing development to move efficiently without backtracking. I used Adobe XD for design and built a fully responsive front-end on a robust WordPress foundation, ensuring the CMS was structured and scalable for long-term growth.

Outcome

At launch, the site performed with a PageSpeed score of 90+ across the board and easily handled a large influx of visitors. The CMS structure gave internal contributors control without the need for technical oversight, and the flexibility of the build has since supported rapid content growth. The result is a scalable publishing platform built to amplify accounting voices and support meaningful industry dialogue.
